Meat Clerk - PT (Food Services)

Our Tinton Falls, NJ store is seeking a part-time Meat Clerk for its busy department. We work weekends to serve our customers, so bring your customer service skills and join our team today. Butchering skills are not required but will be welcomed! The hours for this position will be midday to closing.

Our Meat Clerks provide assistance to customers by delivering excellent customer service and helping with their shopping needs in the Meat Department. Responsibilities include receiving and unpacking meat, cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and surfaces, and following company guidelines within the Meat Department.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist customers by answering questions about meats and poultry and making food recommendations.
2. Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat and poultry, including grinding when needed.
3. Assist in packaging freshly cut meats and poultry, including grinding hamburger meat.
4. Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
5. Ensure meat cases are fully stocked, rotate meats and poultry according to expiration dates, and dispose of damaged or expired products following guidelines.
6. Receive, unpack, and store meat and poultry in coolers and freezers.
7. Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department.
8. Maintain store policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
9. Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience in a Meat Department working with fresh meat preferred.
• Knowledge of automatic and hand wrapping machines is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Flexibility to work all shifts as scheduled.

Working Conditions:

Most of the time is spent moving about on hard surfaces. Frequent bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping may be required. Lifting objects up to 30 pounds is common, with heavier objects requiring assistance. The environment is typically indoor with noise from machinery and equipment, and exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and sharp objects may occur.
