Job summary

Stoltzfus Meats in New Castle Market is seeking a Meat Clerk to help keep our meat stand stocked, organized, and ready to serve customers. You’ll learn about our products, provide friendly service, and work with a team dedicated to quality Stoltzfus Meats is known for.

No meat department experience? We’re happy to train someone who is dependable, willing to learn, and enjoys working as part of a team. This is a hands-on role with growth opportunities in a busy market environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must be available to work Saturdays.
• Ability to work the scheduled shift through closing when assigned.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Grocery, food service, retail, or meat department experience helpful but not required.
• Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced customer service environment.
• Willingness to learn basic meat department skills and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service.
• Package, weigh, label, price, and stock fresh meat products.
• Maintain clean, organized, attractive, and well-stocked display cases.
• Rotate inventory using FIFO practices.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and appearance.
• Assist with basic meat preparation tasks as trained and permitted.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
• Clean equipment, preparation areas, counters, scales, display cases, and other work surfaces.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking deliveries.
• Complete assigned opening and closing responsibilities.
• Support meat cutters, coworkers, and department leadership as needed.
• Help maintain an efficient and organized work area throughout the day.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs.
• Occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work comfortably in refrigerated and cooler environments
• Ability to safely perform assigned food preparation and department tasks using approved equipment, with training provided
