Job Description

Job Title: Meat Clerk

Department: Meat

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function: Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Wraps, trims, stocks cases, and receives merchandise in the Meat and/or Seafood Department.

Reporting Relations: Reports to District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, Meat Department Manager, Assistant Meat Department Manager, Seafood Department Manager, Assistant Seafood Department Manager, Service Managers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greets customers with a smile and assists with product location, heavy lifting, and customer requests.
• Answers phones promptly and provides helpful service.
• Works as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Wraps, weighs, labels, and stocks product, ensuring freshness and proper rotation.
• Prepares seafood items and maintains cleanliness and organization of work area.
• Reports out-of-stock items and maintains hygiene and dress standards.
• Follows sanitation procedures and adheres to company policies.

Secondary Duties:

• Prepares signage, orders merchandise, assists in other store areas, and performs special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform basic math.
• Understanding and following verbal and demonstrated instructions, requesting supplies orally or in writing.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, food safety training, and up to 6 months of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to exert up to 85 pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, including color vision and depth perception.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions: Cool, damp environment with noise, exposure to cleaning solvents, and electrical hazards. Fast-paced environment.

Equipment Used: Knives, grinders, tenderizer, slicer, pallet jack, tumbler, wrapping system, rotisserie.

Contacts: Daily interaction with customers and vendors/suppliers.
