Job summary

Corning Inc. in North Carolina is seeking a Measurements Systems Engineer to advance optical fiber manufacturing through advanced measurement concepts. You will lead projects focused on cost reduction, process improvement, and deployment of new measurement capabilities across sites.

The role requires at least 3 years of engineering experience, strong data analysis, and collaboration across functions. Travel 5-10% within NC with possible international travel; typical schedule 40+ hours.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, ECE, Physics, Optics or related technology.
• 3+ years of engineering experience focused on measurement concepts.
• Strong data analysis skills with tools such as Access, Excel, Minitab, JMP, Databricks or equivalents.
• Experience collaborating across manufacturing, technology, R&D, operations, procurement, IT and supply chain.
• Experience transitioning a new product or process from development into manufacturing.
• Software development skills, with preference for .NET or Python.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced measurement concepts to drive capability advancements in glass manufacturing.
• Lead cost reduction and process improvement projects with division-wide impact.
• Partner with technology and plant manufacturing teams to deploy new measurement capabilities.
• Collaborate with global sites to resolve glassmaking-related measurement issues.
• Support and improve existing optical measurement systems.
