Job summary

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is seeking a senior supervisor to provide supervision, leadership, and technical support for measurement technicians across the area to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient operations of all equipment and systems.

Responsibilities include safety programs, environmental protection, governmental compliance, training and development, budgets, gas balancing, and regional measurement programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in natural gas measurement.
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and measurement software.
  • Knowledge of current AGA and GPA standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with orifice, turbine, PD, rotary, ultrasonic meters and gas chromatography.
  • Understanding of meter stations design, construction and troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver's license; may require CDL and insurability.

  • Oversee safety programs, environmental protection, compliance, training, and budgeting for the measurement area.
  • Monitor and minimize lost and unaccounted gas (L&U).
  • Assess facility and technician performance; manage operating and capital budgets.
  • Develop and implement regional measurement programs and projects.
  • Address after-hours issues and evaluate new measurement technology and equipment.

What We Are Looking For

Provide supervision, leadership, and technical support for Measurement Technicians

What You Will Do
  • Provide technical and supervisory leadership to area measurement technicians and facilities to ensure the safe, accurate and efficient operations of all equipment and systems.
  • Responsible for safety programs, environmental protection programs, governmental compliance, employee training and development, budgets, technical support, gas balancing and personnel functions within the measurement area of responsibility
  • Monitor and minimize lost and unaccounted (L&U) gas
  • Assess measurement facility and technician performance
  • Assist with the development and management of operating and capital budgets
  • Assist with the development and implementation of regional measurement programs and projects
  • Assist with “after hour” issues due to equipment and/or operational problems as needed
  • Evaluate new technology and equipment in the gas measurement industry
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited school preferred or a successful combination of work experience and education that meets the established minimum hiring standards.
Experience / specific knowledge:
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in the field of natural gas measurement
  • Adequate computer skills (MS operating system, MS Word, MS Excel, measurement software, etc.)
  • Adequate knowledge of current AGA and GPA standards and guidelines
  • Adequate knowledge and understanding of orifice meters, turbine meters, PD meters, rotary meters, ultrasonic meters, and gas chromatography
  • Understanding of design, construction, and troubleshooting of meter stations.
  • Occupational hazards and required safety precaution related assigned duties.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
  • May be required to possess a commercial driver's license, drive a company commercial vehicle and comply with all commercial vehicle regulations
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties

  • Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours, which require carrying a communication device
  • Leadership and strong personnel management skills
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimum supervision
  • Math skills necessary to perform budgeting and engineering calculations
  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions
  • Safe work practice and active participation in the safety program

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow rules
Working Conditions
  • Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment.
  • Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas.
  • May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Wears safety equipment as required
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
  • Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.
  • Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, excavated areas, walkways, etc.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
  • Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 foot pounds of torque.
  • Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements.
