Job summary

The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a driver with a valid license to operate a company van for meal pickups, deliveries, and related food service tasks. You will also help with dishwashing and serving food while following the association’s safety and appearance policies.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of transport experience with children, be able to lift 50+ lbs, pass background checks, and communicate effectively with staff and families. The role emphasizes safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly.
• 2+ years of experience transporting children is highly desirable.
• Must possess a valid and active driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass background screening including motor vehicle record check.
• Understand highway signs and report writing clearly.
• Drive safely and communicate effectively with families and staff.
• Meet health requirements and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company van for pickup and delivery of meals and materials.
• Perform routine food service duties such as washing dishes and serving food.
• Adhere to policies in the YMCA handbook and appearance standards.
• Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
• Report unusual incidents or accidents immediately to the Transportation Coordinator.
• Uphold staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols throughout the day.
• Perform other duties as required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, drives a company van in the pickup and delivery of meals and food service materials and supplies; performs routine food service duties such as washing dishes and serving food, and performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Will appear clean, neat, and appropriately attired in accordance with the Association’s Policy on personal appearance
• Will adhere to all policies as stated in the YMCA of Southwest Florida Handbook
• Exercises effective problem solving techniques, tackles issues directly and makes timely decisions based upon logical conclusions of factual information
• Completes work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Positive attitude
• Must be a self starter, with high energy and a positive attitude
• Immediately reports all unusual incidents or accidents to the Transportation Coordinator
• Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department
• All other duties as required necessary.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have the ability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively
• 2+ years of experience transporting children highly desirable
• Must possess a valid and active driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Successfully meet the Association’s policies on background screening; including motor vehicle driving record check.
• Understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
• Be able to drive the vehicle safely.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, families and staff.
• Must meet all health requirements as required by licensing and pass background checks.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver’s license
• High school Diploma or equivalent
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Completion of Redwoods Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training
• Completion of Redwoods Blood Borne Pathogens training
• Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
• Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
