Job summary

Meadow View Elementary, Adel, IA, is seeking highly motivated applicants for a teaching assistant position at a 2nd–4th grade building. The role supports a collaborative staff with a focus on student learning and behavior for various needs.

Hours are 7:30am-3:15pm Monday-Thursday and 7:45am-1:00pm Friday. Competitive benefits and a pay range of $16.36–$18.16 per hour are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or in small groups to help achieve skills and understanding of class material.
• Works with a wide range of needs, including academic, behavior and social aspects.
• Reads to students, listens to students read and participates in other forms of oral communication with the students.
• Guides each student toward making appropriate choices and accepting responsibility for their own behavior.
• Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information regarding an individual student.
• Supervises students outside during arrival, recess, dismissal and may provide lunchroom supervision.

Job Summary

The associate role is one to assist the teacher in supporting specific learning goals by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve appropriate skill levels.
