Job summary

GOTAFE in Inman, SC is seeking a summer engineering intern to gain hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical systems. You will support process improvements, analyze problems, and contribute to cost reduction while working on a real project within a manufacturing plant.

You will collaborate with a diverse team, participate in safety programs, and develop practical skills in data analysis, diagrams, and charts for recommendations.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Full-time availability late May to early August for summer internship.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Preferred prior manufacturing experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Highly motivated self-starter with willingness to take ownership and responsibility.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desire to continuously seek improvement opportunities in efficiency and automation.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a thorough understanding of factors impacting processes and products, including environmental impacts.
• Manage assigned internship project using sound project management skills.
• Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking and focused improvement methods.
• Incorporate creative thinking to identify unique ways to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Prepare diagrams, charts, and tables to support findings and recommendations.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of associates to achieve project and location goals.
• Participate fully in the plant's Safety Process/Program.
