Job summary

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required.
• 1–2 years MDS experience or completed MDS course.
• BLS or CPR certification required.
• 1–2 years experience in MDS coordinator role or related experience preferred.
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to apply them to analysis of variance and sampling theory.
• In-depth medical terminology knowledge.
• Experience in a clinical/healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Complete MDS for all residents per OBRA and PPS guidelines.
• Participate in admission process and assess nursing needs for placement.
• Determine potential RUGs and expenses for admissions.
• Review applications for admission and communicate results to Admissions Coordinator.
• Maintain Medicare criteria knowledge and inform staff of changes.
• Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores for Medicaid reimbursement risks.
• Coordinate problem-solving for complex admissions.
• Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation for timely submissions.
• Adhere to attendance policy.
