As part of ahigh-functioning care team, conduct and coordinate thedevelopment and completion of the resident assessment in accordance with therules and regulations of State and federal government and the policies andgoals of the facility. Reports to the Nurse Educator North – Beth Boutot.
Training for positionwill be required to be in person.
Once employee hassuccessfully completed training and has a full understanding of all duties,position can be done remotely with travel as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Ouremployees are expected to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with otheremployees and hospitality and comfort for the residents. Therefore, thefollowing list of duties is not all-inclusive:
- Assess/Oversee assessment of all residents through the RAI processand ensure coding accuracy, capturing needs and level of assistance, inaccordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Reviewall care plans on a regular basis for accuracy, appropriateness, and casemix validity
- Oversee and/or complete care plans for all residents according tostandards of nursing practice, regulatory requirements, inclusive ofnursing restorative plans
- Establishdocumentation approaches and instruct nursing and ancillary staff onproper documentation
- CommunicateMDS due date so that interdisciplinary team members complete theirportions appropriately and on time.
- Instructall disciplines in proper procedures, completion of MDS items, and CAAs,Care Mix payment and Quality Indicators.
MDS Coordinator Minimum Qualifications:
- MDSand ICD-10 coding experience preferred & RAC-CT certificationpreferred
- Current,active, Maine RN licensure or current active, Maine Licensed PracticalNurse (LPN)
- Strongnursing clinical assessment, care planning, and delivery of care skills,with a long term care population
- Workingknowledge of geriatric health care needs
- Clearand effective communication skills
- Understandingof Federal and State regulations pertaining to long term care and theresident assessment process
- Medicareand MaineCare regulations, as well as the application of the StateOperations Manual, and Principles of Reimbursement
- MDSmanual and updates; Quality Indicator System
- Excellentorganizational skills in areas of time management, prioritization,planning, execution and adaptability.
- Strongcomputer literacy. Experience with and ability to document withinelectronic medical records.
- Workand communicate tactfully with residents, staff; administration, families,physicians, ancillary services, allied health care professionals,surveyors, regulators, other business contacts, the public and thecommunity
