Administrative Functions
- Administer patient assessments, oversee the assessment process, set assessment schedules, and ensure assessments are completed accurately and timely.
- Coordinate the care plan according to regulatory requirements.
- Create schedules for all Medicare and Medicaid processes, start Medicare coverage for new eligible patients, or send out denial letters.
- Stay updated on Medicare changes and assist in determining documents needed for Medicaid reimbursement.
- Direct daily functions of nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines of the facility.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, review and revise policies periodically, and participate in shift planning and quality assurance programs.
- Participate in facility surveys, review discharge plans, and assist in planning nursing services for discharges.
- Interpret policies to residents, visitors, and agencies; manage resident admissions, transfers, discharges, and incident reports.
Charting and Documentation
- Complete and file admission, transfer, and discharge records.
- Encourage physician review of treatment plans and record orders accordingly.
- Record and report incidents, medication changes, and ensure proper documentation of care and treatments.
Drug Administration Functions
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered, verify resident identity, and maintain accurate narcotic records.
- Order medications and supplies as needed, dispose of drugs properly, and review medication cards for accuracy.
Personnel Functions
- Participate in staff evaluations, staffing, and training.
- Lead and supervise nursing personnel, conduct rounds, and address problem areas.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained and enrolled in required programs.
Nursing Care Functions
- Inform staff of new admissions, participate in resident care, and coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Implement nursing objectives, monitor treatments, and ensure care plans are followed.
- Provide direct care, including administering treatments, monitoring residents, and ensuring safety and hygiene standards.
Staff Development
- Develop and conduct training, orient new staff, and participate in continuing education.
Safety and Sanitation
- Monitor safety regulations, infection control, and proper use of equipment and protective gear.
Equipment and Supply Management
- Recommend supplies, maintain stock levels, and ensure safe operation of equipment.
Care Plan and Assessment Review
- Review care plans daily, ensure staff awareness, and assist in updating resident assessments.
Budget and Planning
- Report suspected fraud and provide data for quality assessments.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited program and a current, active license.
- CPR certification and experience with PCC preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak English, and perform mathematical and reasoning tasks.
Physical and Work Environment
- Must be able to move, lift, and work in various environments, including potential exposure to hazards and infectious diseases.
