Job summary

CMI Management LLC in Beltsville, MD, is seeking a Boiler Plant Operator to run, maintain and repair large steam-generating boilers and related equipment at the client site. You will interpret gauges and control systems to monitor steam pressure, water levels, and combustion efficiency while performing preventative maintenance.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 5 years operating boiler plants, 2+ years as MD Grade 1 Stationary Engineer, and MD Grade 1 license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience operating boiler plants and at least 2 years as an MD Grade 1 Stationary Engineer.
• Licensed as a Maryland (MD) Stationary Engineer Grade 1 – 500 or more horsepower (in any building).
• Must pass a government background check.

Responsibilities

• Interpret gauges, meters, and computerized control systems to track steam pressure, water levels, and combustion efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance—such as replacing valves and gaskets—and conduct repairs to keep equipment from corroding or malfunctioning.
• Sample and test boiler water, adjusting chemical treatments as needed to prevent rust and scaling.
• Conduct diagnostic tests, maintain detailed operational logs, and follow strict environmental and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description

The Boiler Plant Operator runs, maintains, and repairs large steam‑generating boilers and auxiliary equipment at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.

Key Job Functions

• Interpret gauges, meters, and computerized control systems to track steam pressure, water levels, and combustion efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance—such as replacing valves and gaskets—and conduct repairs to keep equipment from corroding or malfunctioning.
• Sample and test boiler water, adjusting chemical treatments as needed to prevent rust and scaling.
• Conduct diagnostic tests, maintain detailed operational logs, and follow strict environmental and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Must possess mechanical inclination and the physical ability to work in demanding environments (bending, lifting, climbing)
