Job summary

Dexterra Group, through its CMI unit, operates a 24/7 steam and chilled water generation plant at Gaithersburg, MD. The 1st Class Stationary Engineer ensures safe operation and maintenance of all equipment, complying with MD-DLLR requirements.

The role requires independent operation experience and HVAC licenses. You will maintain steam generation, cooling systems and electrical generation support, while following PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Requires MD Grade 1 Stationary Engineer license (1st Class)
• Minimum 2 years' independent operation on similar-sized equipment
• Must hold Universal CFC (refrigeration) license

Responsibilities

• Maintain the correct steam pressure and water level in the steam generators
• Inspect feed water regulatory controls and gauges
• Ensure proper combustion by maintaining the required O2 levels in the exit gases
• Maintain an established chemical program by performing tests and adjusting blow down rates
• Operate all auxiliary equipment associated with steam, electrical generation and chilled water production
• Maintain correct air pressure by adjusting air compressors and dryers
• Monitor chillers for inlet/outlet temperatures and the condenser/evaporator performance
• Troubleshoot/repair/power the steam and chilled water generation plant equipment
• Repair pumps, repack valves and perform pump maintenance
• Perform housekeeping duties as required and assigned

Job Description

The MD 1st Class Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment at CMI’s 24/7 customer site in Gaithersburg, MD.

Key Job Functions

• Maintain the correct steam pressure and water level in the steam generators
• Inspect feed water regulatory controls and gauges
• Ensure proper combustion by maintaining the required O2 levels in the exit gases
• Maintain an established chemical program by performing tests, adding the required chemicals to each system, and adjusting system blow down rates, etc.
• Operate all auxiliary equipment associated with steam generation, and electrical generation, and chilled water production
• Maintain correct air pressure by proper adjustments to the air compressors and dryers
• Maintain site Chilled Water temperature to the campus
• Operate and monitor the chillers for inlet/outlet temperatures for the condenser and evaporator, and the free cooling system
• Insure the safe operation of all equipment
• Wear proper PPE and follow all required protocols
• Troubleshoot/repair/perform preventative maintenance of all equipment that provides steam, chilled water and compressed air found in the Steam and Chilled Water Generation Plant
• Measure, cut and thread pipe, and clean the water and fire sides of the steam generators
• Troubleshoot/repair control issues associated with direct digital, pneumatic and electric controls
• Repack valves, repair pumps and perform pump maintenance
• Perform related housekeeping duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

• Must have a current Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (MD-DLLR) Grade 1 License (1st Class Stationary Engineer)
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of independent operation as a first-class stationary engineer on similar-sized equipment.
• Must have a current Universal CFC License
