Job summary

Betty Hardwick Center seeks a Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) member to perform crisis assessments and follow-up services for adults and children in crisis. The role focuses on mobile assessments at homes, hospitals, jails, and community sites, following Mental Health Community Standards timelines.

Shift is Monday through Friday, 5p-1a. Requires a Bachelor's degree in psychology or human services, QMHP eligibility, and a valid Texas driver's license with insurable status.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or human services from an accredited college.
  • Eligible to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
  • Experience in mental health services for adults and children preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and insurable driving status required; driving is an essential function.

Responsibilities

  • Perform crisis assessment services to assist persons in mental health crisis to access needed treatment and referrals.
  • Conduct mobile crisis assessments at consumer residences, hospitals, jails and other sites.
  • Follow up on crisis assessments and coordinate intake appointments to resolve crises.
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement, hospitals, judiciary and social service agencies.

Job description

This position will work as part of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team team led by the MCOT Team Leader to perform crisis assessment services and crisis follow up services to adults and children in mental health crisis in a five county area. The shift may fall on a holiday, and will be considered a regularly scheduled workday. This position is responsible to perform crisis assessment services to assist persons in mental health crisis to access needed treatment and referrals, including in-patient hospitalization as needed. These services will be mostly mobile crisis assessments at consumer residences, hospitals, jails and other community sites. The MCOT Staff will be responsible to complete crisis services within the time frame standards set in the Mental Health Community Standards. This position will be responsible to follow up on crisis assessments from other shifts to make sure that persons are seen for crisis follow up and for intake appointments as needed to resolve their crises. This employee will need to have effective communications in dealing with law enforcement, local hospitals, judiciary and other social service agencies to resolve the crisis needs of the callers. Must be able to work under pressure with stressful situations while maintaining a professional manner.

Shift for this position is Monday through Friday, 5p-1a.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelors Degree in Psychology or a Human Services Field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
  • Prefer previous mental health work experience with adult and child mental health consumers.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and be an insurable driver. Driving is an essential function and employees must maintain an acceptable driving record/insurability while employed.

This is a Full-Time position. Benefits are available.

Will be eligible for a one- and two-year increase, depending on satisfactory performance.
