Under supervision of the Senior MCH Epidemiologist, position provides overall administration of the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), including coordination of the questionnaire development, survey methodology, and contract and budget management. This role performs epidemiological analysis of PRAMS and other Population Health Surveillance (PHS) Section and Bureau of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) data; coordinates the compilation analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of PRAMS and other PHS and MCH data; and provides analytic support and epidemiological insight to external stakeholders to include members of the general public.

• Collect, analyze, interpret, and report epidemiological and health services data for maternal and child health populations. Complete written reports and presentations to communicate findings from data collection, analysis, and interpretation activities.
• Conduct data analysis projects related to the maternal and child health populations across the state, services, and the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) data analyst as well.
• Collaborate with other epidemiologists and data scientists to develop projects and products that will improve the health outcomes for maternal and child health populations. Coordinate epidemiological projects and data linkages with other departmental units within the agency and other groups as they relate to maternal and child health outcomes, nutrition, and family support.
• Respond to data requests and provide technical assistance to internal and external partners. Participate in maternal and child health related and advisory meetings. Attend meetings and provide technical assistance to statewide coalitions. Provide data support for creation and review of the Title V needs assessment data analysis and report.
• Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned, including required travel if requested, and responds as directed during emergencies which may occur outside normal work hours, and travel if requested.

Experience with CDC’s Secure Access Management Service (SAMS) and CDC’s PRAMS Integrated Data System (PIDS) preferred. Experience analyzing public health data. Skills in translating statistical findings into clear, actionable insights for reports, visualizations, and presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and partners. Knowledge of contract management and grant management activities including monitoring data collection activities, adherence to federal funding guidelines and grant reporting.

State Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in Public Health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field and relevant working experience. A Doctoral degree in epidemiology, or advanced training in applied epidemiology, such as the Public Health Prevention Specialist Program at the CDC may substitute for experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
