Job summary

Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking a MBAC Certification Specialist to assist clients in applying for MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications. The role provides administrative support for the program and develops workshops with staff.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in business or economics and at least five years in business management or ownership, with strong communication skills and a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in business management or business ownership.
• Thorough knowledge of business principles.
• Understanding of MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to travel.
• Understanding of certifications (MBE, WBE, EDGE, Veteran-Friendly).

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of certification processes and guide clients through the certification path.
• Attend training sessions to maintain up-to-date advisory capabilities.
• Develop and present workshops on State certifications with staff.
• Support MBACDirector and staff with assigned duties and projects.
• Prepare monthly reports including the DAR report.
• Act as Communications Practitioner for MBAC social media and outreach campaigns.
• Utilize SalesForce to support client activity and track KPIs.
• Handle client intake, scheduling, phone inquiries, and walk-ins.

General Summary:

Assist clients in applying for MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications and provide overall administrative support for the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop in depth knowledge of certification processes, consult with clients to determine if certification is advantageous, and guide clients through the certification process.
• Attending training sessions for business advisors to facilitate on-going knowledge and ability to provide in-depth consulting.
• In partnership with staff, develop and present workshops regarding State certifications.
• Other duties and additional projects as assigned by the MBAC Director, Division’s Business Certification Manager or other Division staff.
• Responsible for various monthly reports including the DAR report.
• Serve as the Communications Practitioner for Social Media for the Minority Business Assistance Center
• Utilize SalesForce to support client activity, tracking Key Performance Metrics, and creating various outreach campaigns for MBAC events.
• Operational support including but not limited to client intake, client scheduling, phone inquiries, walk ins, etc.

Job Specifications:

Certification Specialist should be a graduate of a regionally accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or other related fields and/or possess a minimum of five years of experience in business management or business ownership. An equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.

Additional requirements for the proposed Certification Specialist include:

• Thorough knowledge of business principles
• Understanding MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications.
• High level of interpersonal analytical and communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple assignments, organize and establish work priorities with minimal direction and supervision.
• Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to travel.
