Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedAutomotive Technicianto join our service team. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to performing quality repairs safely and efficiently.

Position Summary

The Automotive Technician will diagnose, maintain, and repair domestic and imported vehicles while following manufacturer specifications and established shop procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability problems.
• Perform brake system repairs, including pads, rotors, calipers, and brake inspections.
• Perform suspension and steering repairs, including shocks, struts, control arms, and related components.
• Perform oil changes, fluid services, filters, belts, hoses, and other preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, cooling, and exhaust-related concerns.
• Perform battery, starting, and charging system diagnostics and repairs.
• Use scan tools and other diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle problems.
• Perform tire inspections, rotations, balancing, and related services.
• Conduct road tests when necessary to verify repairs.
• Clearly document all inspections, diagnoses, parts, and repairs performed.
• Communicate vehicle concerns and recommended repairs to the Service Advisor.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and shop quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, lifts, and diagnostic equipment.
• Follow all OSHA, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
• Assist other technicians and service personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with vehicle diagnostics and repair.
• Valid California driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to safely operate and road-test customer vehicles.
• Ability to use common automotive hand and power tools.
• Ability to use automotive diagnostic scanners and testing equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and work in various physical positions, including bending, kneeling, standing, and working underneath vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certification or ASE training.
• Automotive Technology degree or certificate from an accredited trade school.
• Experience with domestic and import vehicles.
• Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with electrical and drivability diagnostics.
• Experience servicing hybrid or electric vehicles.
• Smog/Emissions-related experience is a plus.
