Job summary

Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i seeks a Maui NR/ER Field Associate to conduct native ecosystem protection and management across Maui, including weed control, monitoring, seed collection, and outplanting within NARS and other lands.

You will drive to field sites, supervise assistants, and assist with infrastructure projects, GPS data collection, and public outreach, with required training and safety certifications to be obtained within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university; High School Diploma or GED with two years related experience may substitute.
• 1–3 years of experience in natural resource management.
• Knowledge of native Hawaiian flora, fauna, and threats from alien species.
• Familiarity with NEPM or NARS.
• Ability to use GPS hand-held units, compass, map and PC.

Responsibilities

• Conducts a broad spectrum of native ecosystem protection and management activities on Maui, including weed control and vegetation monitoring.
• Oversees field assistants, volunteers, and interns when the Field Crew Leader is absent.
• Maintains field equipment, tracks supply inventories, and assists with outreach and education activities.
• Data collection and reporting using GPS, ArcGIS, field notes, photographs, aerial surveys, and MS Office.
