Job summary

Leidos in Maui, Hawaii is seeking a Distribution Engineer to design and construct electrical distribution systems from 4kV to 69 kV, coordinating with clients and internal teams. You will develop work packages, perform engineering calculations, and ensure safety and quality standards.

The role requires 5+ years in distribution engineering (or 2+ with HECO/Maui Electric), a BS in engineering (ABET), and proficiency with NESC, AutoCAD/MicroStation, GIS tools, and distribution design software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of distribution engineering experience, or 2+ years with HECO or Maui Electric
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Experience with NESC Standards, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and Bluebeam and/or Adobe
• Experience with ESRI, ESIMS, SAP and GIS is a plus
• Experience with distribution design tools such as Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to perform both field and office work
• Overnight travel 15-25%

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for distribution systems 4kV through 69 kV
• Lead a team supporting customer engineering programs and coordinate with clients
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Perform engineering calculations (pole loading, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop)
• Provide QA/QC of work for submittals to Clients
• Support construction with post-construction reviews and compliance with MECo standards
• Travel to sites and meetings as needed
• Ensure safety and compliance with Leidos standards
