Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Mattress Kitter in the Laminated Mattress Department on 1st shift at our Elkhart, Indiana plant. The role produces specific foam mattress products for external customers under a daily production schedule, working as a team to ensure foam supply aligns with customer specs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree preferred.
• 1+ years manufacturing experience preferred.
• 1+ years of assembly experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 90 pounds in a team.
• Ability to read the production schedule with a scanner.

Responsibilities

• Learn the kitting area including driving forklift and stacking foam.
• Learn all foam types and mattress recipes.
• Assist with monthly inventory as needed.
• Operate laminator, sock closer and banding machine.
• Build, sock cover and box mattresses efficiently.
• Work in any position on the line including rotations.
• Cross train to run each kind of mattress.
• Understand and follow quality standards and procedures.
• Maintain a neat, safe work environment.
• Work as a team to maintain value in the department.
