Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Controls Software Engineer to join the Motion Planning & Controls team in Mountain View, CA. You will design and implement feedback, control, and actuation strategies for safety-critical vehicle systems and work closely with hardware and embedded teams.

The role emphasizes MATLAB/Simulink development, code generation to embedded C/C++, and robust controller design for autonomous trucks, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Production-level MATLAB & Simulink development experience.
• Automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink to embedded C/C++.
• Development, testing, and tuning of controllers for mobile autonomous vehicles.
• Strong modeling and simulation of dynamic systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in designing and implementing feedback, control, and actuation strategies using established and novel techniques.
• Develop, test reliable, redundant, and safety-critical software that controls fully-loaded trucks on the road.
• Engage with vehicle platform (steering, braking, throttle/engine management) to develop models for motion planning, simulation, and controls.
• Address redundant actuation, degraded operation, and fail-safe control.
• Collaborate with hardware, embedded systems, and systems engineering teams to deliver a robust vehicle control architecture.
• Create requirement specifications, implement features, plan testing, and document results.
