Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in mathematics or applied mathematics, or Bachelor’s in mathematics/applied mathematics with Master’s in statistics/physics/mathematics education; equivalent accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in mathematics at all levels offered by the college.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field and utilize current technology in teaching.
  • Engage in professional development and service to the department, college, and community.
  • Participate in college committees, governance, accreditation, and student co-curricular activities.
  • Foster articulation, curriculum development and review, and contribute to program planning.

Education

Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics
Bachelor’s in mathematics or applied mathematics AND Master’s in statistics, physics or mathematics education; or the equivalent

Job description

Position Summary

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teachingassigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helpingstudents fulfill their maximum potential in mastering coursecontent; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining athorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field;continuing professional development; utilizing current technologyin the performance of job duties; maintaining standards ofprofessional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professionalposition; assisting with articulation and curriculum developmentand review; serving on college committees and participating infaculty governance including accreditation and studentco-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities asassigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties andresponsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

Position Salary Information

Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree,upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professionaloccupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximumplacement is Class V, Step 8). The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to,teaching courses in all levels of Mathematics offered at thecollege in:

  • Calculus (for biology/pre-med students, business, orengineering)

  • Linear Algebra
  • Pre-calculus
  • Statistics
  • Trigonometry

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Have a master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics; OR bachelor’s in either of the above AND master’s instatistics, physics or mathematics education; OR theequivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institutioncompleted by January 4, 2027.
  2.
