Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking a full-time Mathematics Instructor to prepare lesson plans, deliver classroom instruction, and assess student progress in Mathematics. The role is on campus with day and evening hours and requires adherence to college policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Mathematics (regionally accredited) or a Master’s with substantial Mathematics coursework. Travel within service area may be required; some weekends possible.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics from a regionally accredited college or university is required.
  • Or a Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective instruction for all levels of Mathematics classes across fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • Develop and follow course outlines, goals, and objectives in line with state standards.
  • Prepare lesson plans, evaluate student progress, and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain syllabi, lesson plans, testing, labs, and other course work for consistency.
  • Collaborate with staff, assist with marketing, recruitment, and student retention.

Job Description

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time instructor for Mathematics. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, and evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes for Mathematics. This position is on campus and requires day and evening hours. This position is full-time/exempt.

Please note the following information regarding this position
  • May be required to teach high school students
  • May require occasional weekends
  • May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  • May require travel
Responsibilities
  • Delivers effective instruction for all levels of Mathematics classes
  • Teaches fall, spring, and summer semesters
  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures
  • Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives and provide feedback in a timely manner
  • Follow state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives
  • Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, testing, labs and other appropriate course work
  • Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
  • Responds promptly to administrative requests and adheres to college policies and procedures
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
  • Assists with marketing, retention, and recruitment
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
  • General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Mathematics

OR

  • A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Mathematics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems
  • Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data
