Job summary

New Trier Township High School in Winnetka seeks a dynamic Mathematics Department Chair to supervise about 30 math faculty, guide curriculum development, and lead campus initiatives. The role is housed on the Winnetka Campus and involves collaboration with Northfield coordinators and district leadership.

The chair will manage staffing, align curriculum with state standards, and model professional practice while fostering growth and community engagement across campuses.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with administrative endorsement.
• Currently or ability to become Illinois State Board of Education Qualified Evaluator.
• Minimum five years of experience as a math teacher at the secondary level.
• Master's/advanced degree in math, education, or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of best practice in math curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Experience in staff supervision and/or leadership development.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external constituents.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating with faculty and administrative colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in establishing shared beliefs and values around student learning.
• Leads the department in implementing the district’s strategic plan and annual goals.
• Uses data to guide school improvement initiatives and allocates resources accordingly.
• Collaborates with campus leadership and coordinators to support district priorities.
• Oversees curriculum alignment to state standards and reviews the department's curriculum and instruction.
• Supports professional development and mentors staff for continuous improvement.
• Develops master schedule and manages the department budget and resources.
• Fosters collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and communicates effectively.
