Job summary

Wor-Wic Community College is seeking a Mathematics Center Coordinator to manage the center and provide direct support to students to promote academic success.

The role includes tutoring, technical support, and collaborating with high schools to strengthen transitions in math education. The coordinator will supervise tutors, manage the center’s operations, and contribute to assessments while teaching up to six credits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education or relevant field.
• Three years of relevant work experience in a mathematics center or teaching mathematics.
• Strong computer, organizational, problem-solving, human relations, budget administration and inventory management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree and bilingual English/Creole skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized academic and technical assistance to students through tutoring, technology support, problem-solving, answering questions, and connecting students with appropriate resources.
• Manages overall operation of the Mathematics Center, including software installations, updates, budget input, inventories, supplies, scheduling, and supervising tutors and student workers; maintains Blackboard course for training and updates.
• Collaborates with external and internal stakeholders by supporting high schools, setting up courses, mentoring teachers, and coordinating training; assists with diagnostic assessments and ALEKS modules; ensures communication among administration, faculty, and students.
• Teaches up to six equivalent credits.
• Serves on college-wide committees and promotes the Mathematics Center at student events.
• Manages and contributes to the department assessment process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
