Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu Mililani Town is seeking a Math Tutor to support students’ academic growth and serve as a positive mentor. You will develop engaging lesson plans, implement activities, and create a welcoming space where youth feel motivated to learn and succeed.

In addition to tutoring, you may assist with program activities, supervise junior staff, and contribute ideas to improve youth engagement. The role reports to the Site Coordinator and requires patience, teamwork, and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching and facilitating academic instruction required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (training available upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans and educational activities that promote academic success and align with the program model and goals.
• Create engaging methods to promote positive learning habits and address academic learning loss.
• Foster a positive work environment and effective communication among staff and participants.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of academic quality.
• Communicate professionally with participants, parents, co-workers, and program contacts.
• Assist in supervising junior staff and providing mentorship.
• Research and develop new programs and activities to enhance youth development.
• Support coordination of events and activities to promote engagement.
