Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a Math Tutor to support students’ academic growth and act as a positive mentor. You will make math approachable, encouraging, and fun, while building relationships and motivating learning in a welcoming space.

When not teaching, you’ll lead engaging activities, mentor junior staff, and contribute ideas to improve programs. You’ll report to the Site Coordinator and support youth development initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching and facilitating academic instruction required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Current certification in language arts or mathematics education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans and educational activities aligned with program goals.
• Engage students through enrichment activities and positive learning habits.
• Create a positive work environment for staff and participants.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to uphold academic standards.
• Communicate professionally with participants, parents, and partners.
