Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana is seeking part-time math tutors to support introductory mathematics courses across campus, including residence halls and satellite locations.

Tutors will explain concepts, provide homework help, and mentor student visitors while maintaining professional conduct and reliable attendance. The role involves in-person work with evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled IU student and has taken/received credit for undergraduate math courses successfully (including 200- and 300-level courses, such as calculus II/III, statistics and/or linear algebra).
• Preferred: having taken or taught finite mathematics and/or the B110 business math course.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience.
• Experience working with the public.

Responsibilities

• Tutor college-age students by teaching concepts and providing homework help for introductory math courses ranging from basic skills courses through the general education courses. For math tutors, these courses would include finite math (M118; D116/D117), calculus (M119 and M211), and the business math course (B110).
• Functions as an informational resource for student visitors to the SAC residential tutoring locations, providing more general academic/institutional information upon request.
• Mentors student visitors and other staff members, working collaboratively to create a welcoming learning experience.
