Job summary

Essex County College in Newark, NJ seeks a Math Tutor to support MTH 0905/100, assisting students in-class and outside of class to improve overall performance. Works under supervision of the Chairperson of Mathematics, Engineering Technologies & Computer Sciences.

The role offers an hourly rate of $18.00 and requires ECC students or recent graduates in STEM with strong math skills, plus a year of tutoring or teaching assistant experience; strong communication and intercultural abilities are

Qualifications

ECC student/recent graduate in a STEM major with strong mathematics skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment at all times.
Demonstrated konowledge of computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

Attend all class sessions held in the lab in order to support students while they are completing individual class work and/or small group work assigned by the professor.
Be available in class to provide one-on-one assistance to any student who needs supplemental help during the professor’s lecture.
Be available outside-of-class for an additional scheduled number of hours each week to tutor students either in a one-on-one or small group format.
Perform other related duties as required.
