Job summary

Grade Potential Tutoring is seeking an in-person math tutor for an 8th grade student in Spotsylvania. Sessions are 1 hour, to be held at the family’s home, with availability Tue/Wed/Thu in the late afternoon.

You will customize lessons to address gaps, homework help, and test-taking strategies. Teaching certification is preferred; prior middle school experience is essential; flexible scheduling available.

Qualifications

• You have experience teaching middle school students.
• Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles).
• Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be minors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 1-hour in-person tutoring sessions at the family’s home in Spotsylvania.
• Tailor instruction to help the 8th grade student understand the material and develop study skills/test-taking strategies.
• Flexible scheduling—select sessions that fit your availability (Tue 3:00 pm–5:00 pm, Wed 4:00 pm–5:00 pm, Thu 4:00 pm–6:00 pm).

About the student

• 8th grade student seeking tutoring for math.
• The student is struggling with math and is not enjoying the subject at all. The student's family would like the student to develop a better understanding of the material covered in class, stay on top of his homework, and develop study skills/test-taking strategies.
  
• The student is seeking 1-hour sessions once to twice per week during their availability: Tuesday 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Wednesday 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Thursday 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
  
• The student is seeking a tutor who can meet for in-person sessions at his family's home in Spotsylvania.
  

Requirements

REQUIRED

• You have experience teaching/tutoring middle school students.
