Job summary

Discovery Ranch is seeking a dedicated Secondary Math Teacher to deliver quality math education in a therapeutic residential program for boys aged 13-18. The role involves designing tailored lesson plans, employing engaging methods, and assessing student progress within a supportive team setting.

Part-time evening hours (Mon-Thu 3:30-8:30 pm) with pay $20-25/hour DOE. Candidates must hold a Utah Secondary Math certification and have prior secondary math teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field.
• Valid Utah teaching certification in Secondary Mathematics.
• Previous experience teaching secondary math.
• Knowledge of current teaching strategies and best practices in mathematics education.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex mathematical concepts clearly.
• Passion for working with adolescent students and their growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach secondary math classes, including Algebra, Geometry, and other basic/advanced math, to students in grades 7-12.
• Design and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and abilities of our students.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods to engage and inspire students.
• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop and implement an integrated curriculum.
• Provide individualized support and instruction to students who may be struggling academically.
• Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success and well-being.
