Location: Juvenile Services Center

Essential Functions

• Implement 21st‑Century skills into the curriculum.
• Work a full duty day at the assigned location(s).
• Assess student abilities relative to educational goals, objectives, and student outcomes.
• Plan and employ a variety of instruction and learning strategies that meet student needs and the physical facility.
• Manage classroom behavior and assist in managing student behavior throughout the site.
• Communicate instructional expectations and student progress with students, parents, and caregivers, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting.
• Collaborate with other program personnel on instructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum.
• Participate in professional growth activities, staff meetings, and in‑service training as required.
• Maintain and submit appropriate student progress records and reports.
• Ensure the classroom and instructional environment is attractive, safe, and conducive to learning.
• Participate in extracurricular activities requested by the principal.
• Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students as a regular teacher.
• Possess strong knowledge of content, curriculum, materials, and equipment for the instructional specialty assigned.
• Understand student growth and development applicable to the assigned grade.
• Stay current with research and theory in early childhood education.
• Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and student needs.
• Build effective relationships with students, parents, and peers; serve as a family advocate within the district‑wide Family Advocate System.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate strong human relations skills.
• Maintain physical and emotional fitness to perform required work in a fast‑paced, high‑intensity environment.
• Monitor student work and behavior effectively.
• Exhibit patience, caring, and commitment to student success.
• Take attendance and maintain registers per Board policy.
• Follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments.
• Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Communication/Organization

Maintain communication with school personnel, parents, and caregivers to enhance cooperative action that meets students’ educational needs.

Use existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.

Reasoning Ability

Solve practical problems and handle varied variables in situations lacking standardization. Interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.

Language Skills

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Write reports, curriculum outlines, and correspondence. Present information and answer questions from administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public.

Physical Demands
