Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, and regulations, and delivery of quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation. Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations. Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
Implement a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed by state law or district policy. Continuously evaluate and record students’ progress, and communicate with parents as needed. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level. Plan lessons to meet subject area objectives and maintain written lesson plans for substitute teachers.
Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and maximize instructional time. Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to assess and address health, attitude, and learning issues. Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school. Participate in community activities such as open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable. Collaborate with the principal to develop an evaluation system consistent with district guidelines. Maintain accurate records of student information, reports, and other required documents. Regular attendance at the worksite is essential.
