Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, implementation of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and delivery of quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter following guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
  5. Implement a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed by law or district policy.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and communicate with parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and maintain written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and maximize instructional time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school hours.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities such as open houses and PTA meetings to promote educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems in accordance with district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate student records and complete all required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, communicate verbally, reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to stand and walk. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds routinely. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The environment is usually moderate in noise level. Travel within the district is necessary. Remote work arrangements are not permitted for campus-based employees, as attendance at the worksite is essential.

Qualifications
