Job summary

Alma del Mar Charter School in New Bedford, MA is seeking a Math Specialist to design and deliver targeted interventions for middle school students, including those with IEPs. You will collaborate with colleagues to align instruction with the school-wide Expeditionary Learning framework and Alma's commitment to equity and high expectations.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, MA DESE Special Education licensure or plan to obtain it, and has at least one year of full-time teaching

Math Specialist Role

As a Specialist you will plan and teach highly effective interventions both within and outside the general education classroom. You will serve students with IEPs requiring math support. You will work closely with other teachers in your curriculum area and the academic support team to design instruction that furthers every scholar's learning. You will develop high leverage relationships with Alma families. You'll receive the support you need in all aspects of your work, while retaining the autonomy to do what's right for the scholars with whom you work closely every day.

Who We're Looking For

We seek outstanding teachers with the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher
  • At least one year of full time teaching experience preferred
  • Proven effectiveness leading students to significant academic gains (please include specific data related to your student's academic gains in your resume)
  • Massachusetts DESE Licensure in Special Education.

Compensation : Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary starts at $50,000 for a first year middle school math teacher. Bilingual candidates are compensated higher.
