Job summary

Northport-East Northport UFSD is seeking a dedicated Middle School Mathematics teacher to deliver standards-aligned instruction to students in grades 5–9 across Northport Middle School and East Northport Middle School. The role emphasizes mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and engaging, differentiated lessons.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to implement district curriculum, monitor student progress, and provide targeted interventions to support diverse learning

Middle School Mathematics

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide mathematics instruction to middle school students in general education math classes and Math Support Lab classes. Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons that support student understanding of mathematical concepts, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs, provide targeted academic intervention and reinforcement, monitor student progress, and maintain a supportive and engaging learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues and support student achievement in accordance with district curriculum and instructional expectations.

Essential Skills and/or Experience:

• Knowledge of middle school mathematics content and instructional practices.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics lessons.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support to students with varying academic needs.
• Effective classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to assess student understanding, monitor progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Preferred Skills and/or Experience:

• Experience teaching middle school mathematics.
• Experience providing math intervention, remediation, or academic support in a Math Support Lab or similar setting.
• Familiarity with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), including collaborative lesson planning, reviewing student data, and developing strategies to improve student achievement.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education tools to support instruction, communication, collaboration, and student learning.
• Experience using Promethean interactive displays or similar classroom interactive board technology to enhance mathematics instruction.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Effective approximately December 17, 2026, to June, 302027
• Mathematics (Grades 5–9), Mathematics (Grades 7–12) with Mathematics 5–6 Extension, or equivalent NYS certification authorizing mathematics instruction in grades 6–8
