Job summary

Sumter School District/Bates Middle School in Sumter, South Carolina is seeking a Math Coach (Title I) to support effective mathematics instruction and student achievement. The role reports to the Principal and aims to assist teachers in utilizing best practices for math instruction.

Qualifications

• Valid teacher's certificate in elementary education and/or Math Master's Degree.
• Five (5) years of teaching experience required.
• Must be able to work well with teachers, students and administrators.
• Extensive knowledge of SC Standards and best practices for math.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze standardized test scores and any other test data.
• Collaborate with curriculum coordinators and administrators on all test data and goals.
• Work with curriculum coordinator and principal to create Math instructional plan for the school.
• Communicate a variety of instructional techniques to teachers and conduct model demonstration lesson for the staff.
• Visit and observe classrooms and provide feedback to teachers through focused conferences.
• Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, training sessions, and staff development sessions related to Math instruction.
• Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education

Valid teaching certificate in elementary education
