Job description

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive classroom culture in which all students feel welcomed and valued; Build relationships with students and families that demonstrate genuine care, concern, and a sense of responsibility for students’ academic and social growth.
  • Design and facilitate academically rigorous and student-centered literacy, math and social-emotional instruction, aligned with the school’s curriculum and philosophy.
  • Plan and implement differentiated instruction across subject areas to support our diverse student learners, including students with special education services, students identified as multilingual learners, students receiving academic interventions and students who are accelerated.
  • Facilitate whole group, small group, and individual instruction in an engaging and motivating manner to foster student achievement.
  • Use data to assess and analyze student progress across subjects to develop interventions and extensions for student learning.
  • Foster and promote UC TEAMS values to ensure a positive, caring, responsive and safe learning environment with structures that are both inviting and containing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and key stakeholders within the school’s professional learning structures, such as but not limited to Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), coaching, and professional development to develop best practices and grow as an educator in order to meet the academic outcomes for students.
  • Develop relationships and strengthen partnerships with families through persistent communication, such as but not limited to phone calls, special events, and conferences.
  • Arrive at school each day by 7:30 a.m. and leave no earlier than 3:45 p.m.; Mondays 4:45 p.m.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field
  2. Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification in Mathematics (Grades 9–12)
  3. Strong understanding of Algebra I and Pre-Calculus curriculum
  4. Familiarity with the Danielson Framework, New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS), and technology integration in math instruction
  5. Effective communication and classroom management skills
  6. Experience teaching high school mathematics preferred
  7. Proficient with Google Apps and digital instructional tools
  8. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
