Stepful, Inc. is seeking an experienced RN nursing educator to join our Practical Nursing program as an adjunct Skills Lab Instructor, specializing in OB, pediatrics, and maternal health.

The role is based in Worthington, Ohio, with Friday sessions in a hands-on simulation setting. This 1099 contract position offers flexible hours and potential travel for instructors outside Columbus, with a pay rate of $50.00 per hour.

Qualifications

The opportunity:

Do you have a passion for maternal health, obstetrics, or pediatric nursing — and a gift for teaching? Stepful is seeking a skilled RN and nursing educator to join our practical nursing program as an adjunct Skills Lab Instructor, specializing in OB, pediatrics, and maternal health.

Stepful operates a Board of Nursing–approved Practical Nursing program on a mission to make nursing careers accessible to working adults who wouldn’t otherwise have a path in. Our students are motivated and hardworking — and they need an experienced educator who can bring OB and pediatric nursing to life in a hands‑on simulation environment.

As a Skills Lab Instructor, you’ll guide practical nursing students through immersive, hands‑on learning experiences at our simulation lab in Worthington, Ohio — helping them build the confidence and competency they need to succeed in clinical practice and on the NCLEX.

Schedule & Logistics:

Skills lab sessions take place on Fridays, 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm, aligned to program rotation schedules. Occasionally, sessions extend into immersion weekends (Friday–Sunday) depending on the student cohort — candidates with weekend availability are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a 1099 contract role, with hours varying based on the number of courses taught — making it a great fit for RNs looking for flexible, meaningful contract teaching work alongside their current practice.

For instructors outside the Columbus/Worthington area, travel, lodging, and per diem support may be provided.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and facilitate in-person skills lab sessions at Stepful’s simulation lab in Worthington, Ohio, guiding practical nursing students through hands‑on OB, pediatric, and maternal health competencies

• Deliver curriculum content across simulation-based learning experiences, providing real‑time instruction, demonstration, and feedback

• Serve as a subject matter expert in OB, pediatric, and maternal health nursing — bringing your clinical experience into the classroom to prepare students for real‑world practice

• Evaluate student performance during skills lab sessions and provide constructive, timely feedback to support their progress toward licensure

• Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment where students feel confident building and practicing hands‑on nursing skills

What you’ll bring:

• 2+ years of experience as faculty in an RN or LPN education program

• Specialty clinical experience in pediatrics, obstetrics, and/or maternal health

• 2+ years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, with 5+ years of varied nursing experience across clinical practice, nursing education, and/or administration

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)

• Active, unencumbered Ohio RN license

• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners

• Availability to be in‑person with students on Fridays. If you have availability Friday through Sunday, that’s a plus!

The hourly pay rate for this opportunity is $50.00/hour. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
