Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound scans on patients using specialized equipment. The position works closely with radiologists, physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate, high‑quality imaging results while delivering excellent patient care. Key responsibilities include maintaining patient safety, following imaging protocols, and documenting exams efficiently.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures proper patient identification and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Uses appropriate imaging techniques to ensure timely, safe, and high‑quality diagnostic exams.
  • Performs high‑level Maternal Fetal Medicine imaging and completes medically acceptable exams.
  • Follows protocols for exam completion, patient transfer to PACS, coding, charging, and documentation.
  • Maintains safety practices, equipment cleaning and sterile technique.
  • Completes all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage.
  • Manages downtime processes, image modification on PACS, and attends MFM clinical training.
  • Participates in process‑improvement projects and may serve in roles such as system superuser, quality lead, research lead, equipment lead, education lead, or other department needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to independently perform complex exams per department requirements.
  • Subject‑matter expert in advanced technologies, techniques, and practices.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer three years of experience in OB and MFM, including at least one year in MFM.
Physical Requirements
  • Visual acuity to read charts, labels, and monitor displays.
  • Auditory ability to hear alarms, patient needs, and provider communication.
  • Manual dexterity for precise equipment manipulation and computer use.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and carry supplies up to heavy weights, and transport patients.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Optional: driving required for some roles.
Location & Schedule

Denver, Wheat Ridge, Lafayette, Brighton Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics. Full‑time (36 hours), 9‑hour shifts Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate commensurate with experience, ranging from $42.66 to $65.82. Benefits include comprehensive health care, wellness programs, and other employee support initiatives.
