Qualifications

Compass Government Solutions is seeking experienced Maternal Child Registered Nurses to provide inpatient nursing services in support of a 24-hour, seven-day-per-week operation, including federal holidays within the Labor and Delivery Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center. The Maternal Child RN will provide comprehensive nursing care within the scope of privileges granted by the medical treatment facility and in accordance with established clinical, professional, and regulatory standards.

This position requires strong critical-care assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Perform a full range of professional nursing duties within the RN’s authorized scope of practice and clinical privileges.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical, family, and social histories, advance directives, and current health status.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, wound care, treatments, and other assigned procedures.
  • Administer medications through approved routes, including intravenous, subcutaneous, oral, transdermal, rectal, and intramuscular administration.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness and recognize potential adverse reactions and side effects.
  • Administer blood products in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform phlebotomy, waived testing, and other authorized diagnostic procedures.
  • Recognize life-threatening conditions and initiate appropriate emergency and life-saving interventions.
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialized critical-care equipment, including mechanical ventilators, advanced monitoring systems, infusion pumps, and related technology.
  • Assess patient and family education needs, provide appropriate instruction, and document understanding.
  • Communicate relevant patient information clearly and promptly to members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed vocational nurses and unlicensed personnel.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow all infection-control, patient-safety, medication-management, and documentation requirements.
  • Adapt to changing patient needs, acuity levels, staffing demands, and workload priorities.
  • Participate in required meetings, training, competency assessments, and professional development activities.
QualificationsDegree
Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required.
  • Graduate of a college or university accredited by either:
    • Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or
    • Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Registered Nurse experience within the last two (2) years following graduation.
  • Recent critical care or intensive care experience preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license from any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, U.S. territory, or other U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
  • Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring course.
  • Standard STABLE foundations course.
Security/Citizenship
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain access to U.S. Government computer systems and military treatment facilities.
