Job summary

Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA is seeking a Senior Nurse Leader to drive Maternal Child Health strategy and governance. You will partner with the CNO to shape vision, standards, and performance across departments, while mentoring nurse managers and ensuring regulatory and patient safety excellence.

The role emphasizes shared governance, budget development, and data-driven management, with a strong focus on quality, staff development, and inter-professional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7 years of nursing clinical experience.
• 3 years of administrative/management experience.
• 3 years of management experience in hospital/health care environment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in staff selection and retention within assigned areas.
• Under the direction of the CNO, develops performance standards and coaching for staff.
• Develops departmental goals with staff and physicians; writes evidence-based policies.
• Maintains and improves organization performance, patient safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Supports Shared Governance and engages nursing and inter-professionals in shared decision-making.
• Develops budgets for areas of responsibility with the CNO.
• Determines metrics to ensure regulatory requirements and patient care are met.
• Prepares periodic reports for executive leadership.
• Advises the CNO on problems and implements process/policy changes.
• Develops, evaluates and monitors programs based on needs across financial, regulatory, marketing, HR, ethics, and community.
• Identifies strategic issues and presents approaches to improve areas.
• Coaches and mentors nurse managers; ensures staff engagement and accountability.
• Maintains communication with medical staff, the community, and supervision.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Providence initiatives.
• Identifies patient needs and develops quality programs.
• Analyzes clinical services to improve quality and efficiency.
• Develops priorities and monitors status of special projects.
• Maintains professional growth through seminars and affiliations.
• Participates in hospital/medical staff committees and meetings.
