Job summary

Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. in Youngstown, PA is hiring a full-time lab technician to set up equipment, run tests, and document results with meticulous detail.

You will perform tensile testing, metallography, corrosion testing, and other material analyses, operate lab prep tools, and maintain accurate digital and physical records. Training is provided and no prior experience is required beyond a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is strictly required for national defense and aerospace compliance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanically inclined; experience with blueprints or drawings a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate laboratory instrumentation for testing and process control.
• Perform customized tests to determine material properties.
• Work with tensile testing, metallography, stress & creep testing, composites, fracture analysis, and corrosion testing.
• Safely operate lab tools (band saws, grinders, sanders, polishers, mounting machinery).
• Maintain meticulous digital and physical records of test results.
• Keep the testing lab organized and clean.
