Job summary

ICON Technology seeks a Construction Materials Technician to join our Materials Science team in Austin, TX. You will perform tests on cement-based materials for our 3D printing technology, supporting lab and field testing, quality control, and data documentation.

The role requires 3+ years of concrete/materials testing, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and collaboration in a dynamic environment. Certification readiness (ACI Grade I) within 3 months is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in concrete, cement, or construction materials testing.
• Ability to obtain ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I within 3 months of hire.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized laboratory tests on aggregates, cement, concrete, and related materials under guidance from senior staff.
• Assist with development and execution of testing procedures for 3D printed cement-based materials.
• Support internal quality control by fabricating and transporting test samples, recording data, and maintaining documentation.
• Prepare materials and equipment for experiments and help carry out testing plans developed by engineers.
• Maintain and clean laboratory tools and equipment; assist with calibrations and basic troubleshooting.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and help track inventory.
• Participate in safety procedures and protocols for laboratory and field environments.
• Assist with waste management at job/test sites.
• Support other departments with materials testing needs when required.
• Perform physical tasks up to 50 lbs and outdoor work.
