Job Description:

Job Summary: The Materials Team Lead is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations and directing workflow across materials management functions to ensure timely and efficient service delivery. Responsibilities include overseeing receiving, staging, storage, inventory control, and distribution of supplies and materials to support organizational and departmental needs. The Team Lead ensures accuracy of inventory transactions and documentation, including reconciliation of electronic and written records, in support of operational and financial integrity. The Team Lead ensures established processes, inventory management standards, and service expectations are consistently followed and communicates operational needs, issues, and variances to Supply Chain management.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Leads and coordinates daily activities across materials management functions to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Assists with planning, organizing, and leading daily operations within the Materials Management area of the Supply Chain department.
  • Assists with onboarding, training, and mentoring of staff; provides input to management regarding employee performance, productivity, and accuracy.
  • Assists with administering daily work assignments and promotes effective communication and team awareness.
  • Serves as primary escalation point for operational and inventory-related issues prior to Manager involvement.
  • Assists with maintaining assigned areas to ensure proper organization, workflow efficiency, cleanliness, and high-quality customer service, while adhering to inventory management principles, including First-In, First-Out (FIFO).
  • Oversees receiving, inventory control, stocking, and internal distribution processes, ensuring adherence to established procedures and accurate unit of measure handling.
  • Monitors ERP system activities related to inventory accuracy, item location management, and supply tracking; assists with troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues.
  • Ensures proper staging, storage, replenishment, and PAR level management of supplies to support operational needs.
  • Assists with establishing and modifying processes to improve inventory accuracy, replenishment efficiency, and overall department performance.
  • Provides oversight of unit activities to ensure compliance with procedures for receiving, issuing, and documentation of supplies, including proper use of scanning technology.
  • Tracks, investigates, and resolves inventory discrepancies, damages, and variances in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinates purchasing and supply activities, including placing orders, tracking purchases, managing backorders, and facilitating vendor returns.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and stakeholders regarding supply needs, order fulfillment, and inventory availability.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of safety and security practices; promotes adherence to safety standards and proper materials handling.
  • Monitors warehouse stock for damaged, expired, or obsolete items and ensures appropriate action is taken.
  • Conducts routine rounding with internal stakeholders to assess service levels, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provides and demonstrates excellent customer service in all interactions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 5 plus years of experience working in sterile processing, textile processing, supply chain operations or related field, using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to support operational or team oversight activities.
  • 2 plus years of experience in an automated warehouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 plus years of experience leading or managing teams or groups.
  • Experience working healthcare facility.
