JOB SUMMARY
The Materials Supervisor serves as a supply management expert maintaining an effective supply management program, including providing effective planning and material support for organization’s production activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manages the day-to-day Materials Management team and the processes of the business including but not limited to: Warehousing, Shipping & Receiving, Material Handling, Production Control.
- Provides direct supervision to employees, along with time approvals, objective setting, performance management, conflict resolution, motivating, training and coaching through effective visual management, metrics, and feedback.
- Operates as an active, working leader serving as additional and/or backup capacity to all materials management roles in order to successfully execute the daily tasks and requirements.
- Oversees shipping and receiving process to ensure compliance with all external (DoD, ITAR, etc.) and internal (ISO, AS9100, etc.) regulations and requirements.
- Effectively manages the timely delivery of raw material, kits, and supplies to the Production Floor with proper material presentation to optimize the assembly process.
- Reviews and improves material storing methods and layouts to promote flow, reduce kit time, and minimize material footprint on the assembly floor inventory accuracy, and security.
- Leads the cycle count process, researching and determining root cause for variances and implementing corrective actions for long-term sustainment and process improvement.
- Leads various logistics related activities (freight, transportation, contracts, bill reconciliation, and hazardous material requirements, etc.).
- Facilitates onboarding and training for all new hires in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Maintains Government Property Record Database and tracking, from receipt of property to relief of responsibility.
- Prepares documentation for records, inventories, audits, transfers of responsibilities, and contract close-out.
- Handles shipping and storage of Government owned equipment and materials.
- Assure compliance with corporate and local government safety, health and environmental rules, policies and procedures.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ensure 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Supports and develops a culture by instilling the values in all activities in the facility
- Responsible for the training and development program for the team members
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, recruitment, training, development, feedback, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily leadership
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
Requirements:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree . May consider years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Certifications in APICS, IATA, DOT, RCRA and ITAR ; ability to pass certifications required
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a supervisor in Logistics, and materials management or related functions. Military logistics experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in materials review and provide any changes
- Prior experience supporting a highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Proven history of leading and implementing impactful process improvement projects
- Prior experience receiving, and shipping domestically as well as internationally
- Experience in warehouse layout, flow and operation
- Forklift experience
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
- Has the ability to function under stress and interact cordially with co-workers to accomplish common tasks
- Excellent communication skills, high business acumen with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
- Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can effectively interface and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Proven ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from audience
- Proven ability to develop and grow top talent
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP Software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advance Microsoft Excel knowledge desired; Macro knowledge a plus
- Experience managing Time & Attendance for direct reports
- Must have ability to obtain a fork lift/industrial powered vehicle license
- Strong knowledge of Lean Principles
- Strong leadership capabilities along with solid judgement and decision making skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent problem solving skills, sound judgment, initiative and creativity
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills
- Performs with high integrity throughout all areas of internal and external business activity
- MS D365 experience a plus
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Use of computer. Involves standing and walking most of the time, may involve sitting for brief periods.
