Atrium Health seeks a coding education specialist to enhance coding/documentation practices across diverse service lines. This virtual role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to standardize coding processes, educate, and improve revenue capture through effective documentation strategies. Candidates should possess certifications in medical coding, with a minimum of five years of coding experience and three years in educational roles.
Serves as the system-wide key contact for service line/specialty specific coding and proactively educates coding/documentation guidelines and concepts within a specific specialty. Collaborates with Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Senior director administrators, Production and Department support leaders for problem resolution and trends in payer-specific rules/coverage. Educates Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Medical Group and Clinic Leadership to improve coding and documentation. Shares knowledge with Patient Service Area (PSA) Liaisons, Production Coding, and Department Support to enhance coding, documentation, and charge capture opportunities. This role is virtual due to system-wide support for specific service lines/specialties. Note: "Clinicians" refers to all billing providers.
