Job summary

Andersen Corporation is seeking a Materials Test Development Engineer to evaluate material performance under mechanical and environmental conditions, spanning lab and field applications. You will develop advanced test methods and generate data for simulations used in engineering design.

In this role you will own measurement technologies such as CT scanning, DIC, DMA, and more, collaborating with technicians and stakeholders to deliver reliable insights. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • BS in Materials Science or Engineering with supplemental knowledge.
  • 2–5+ years engineering experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with product development processes.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and product test methods.
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, data visualization, and analysis tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
  • Experience with X-ray Computed Tomography, Digital Image Correlation, Cyclic Fatigue Testing, UTM, DMA, and Parallel Plate Rheometers is a plus.
  • AutoCAD or other CAD software experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute advanced material and component testing methods to evaluate performance under mechanical loading and environmental conditions.
  • Generate high-quality material characterization data to support engineering simulations, predictive modeling, and product development activities.
  • Analyze complex experimental datasets to identify material behaviors, performance trends, and reliability characteristics.
  • Collaborate with technicians to collect and validate measurement data using a variety of advanced testing methods.
  • Train and mentor technicians on test setup, inspection procedures, and measurement techniques as required.
  • Plan and conduct laboratory and field-based investigations to assess short-term and long-term material performance.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert and owner for advanced measurement and testing technologies.
  • Document test results and communicate engineering findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders through technical reports and presentations.
  • Travel within the United States as needed (up to 10%).
