Job summary

Andersen Corporation, a leader in windows and doors, seeks a Materials Test Development Engineer to drive advanced material testing across lab and field environments. The role focuses on evaluating performance under mechanical loading and environmental conditions, delivering high-quality characterization data for simulations and product development.

Ideal candidates have 2–5+ years in engineering, strong communication, and familiarity with reliability principles.

Qualifications

  • BS in Materials Science or Engineering with supplemental knowledge in materials science.
  • 2–5+ years engineering experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute advanced material and component testing methods to evaluate performance under mechanical loading and environmental conditions.
  • Generate high-quality material characterization data to support engineering simulations, predictive modeling, and product development activities.
  • Analyze complex experimental datasets to identify material behaviors, performance trends, and reliability characteristics.
  • Collaborate with technicians to collect and validate measurement data using a variety of advanced testing methods.
  • Train and mentor technicians on test setup, inspection procedures, and measurement techniques as required.
  • Plan and conduct laboratory and field-based investigations to assess short-term and long-term material performance.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert and owner for advanced measurement and testing technologies.
  • Document test results and communicate engineering findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders through technical reports and presentations.
  • Travel within the United States as needed (up to 10%).
