Job summary

Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA is offering a 2027 intern position as a Materials Quality Engineer (Weapons). You will work on quality planning, inspection planning, supplier collaboration, and process improvements on real projects.

We seek candidates pursuing a BS in Materials Engineering or Materials Science, with knowledge of statistics and strong written/oral communication. This 10-week, on-site internship includes mentorship, a prepaid stipend, and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of statistical techniques and applications.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with internal functional groups and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering tasks.
• Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Plan, Quality Assurance Directive and Inspection Plan documents as required by the assigned project(s).
• Interfaces with Supplier Quality Engineering to provide guidance and support for supplier issues.
• Uses knowledge in reviewing customer contracts and design standards, responsible for requirements analysis, identification and definition of inspection tools and techniques to define inspection requirements.
• Participates in process improvement activities through monitoring, root cause investigations, auditing, failure analysis.
• Participates in developing fabrication/build processes and standards.
